
In the past Bucklin has served as Treasurer, and as a member of the Board of Directors,
of the Phoenix airport chaplaincy. He believes strongly in the need for
the airport chaplaincy and supports its mission.

funded and usually exist only by virtue of private support, yet they provide a pubic service.
18 million passengers (yes,
18 million) pass through the Phoenix Sky Harbor airport during the year. 35 thousand
employees work at the airport. The airport is a city bigger than
many. For many of the employees, the airport chaplaincy is the only place
of faith resources that they know of. (Keep in mind that many of the
employees work often on Sundays, and they have no regular church home. In
the case of travelers, there is no other resource available to help in times of
spiritual or material crisis that occurs during their travels.
Sky Harbor Interfaith Chaplaincy is a non-profit corporation serving the
Phoenix, Arizona, airport with an interfaith chaplaincy. A chapel
and a paid minister, plus 35 volunteers of various faiths, provide services to
the huge number of persons at the airport.
