Several times a month, we are asked for the names of attorneys who handle legal malpractice cases.   Professional negligence is a specialized area of law.  Lay persons have a difficult time locating legal malpractice attorneys.   We mention the following attorneys as a public service for persons who are frustrated in finding an attorney who will sue or defend another lawyer for professional negligence, as well as being a public service for attorneys who need help in finding defense attorneys with experience.

Scroll down the page for the list of attorneys in your state.

We do not act as an attorney for a client on legal malpractice matters.   We work only as an expert witness in legal malpractice cases; and we work as an expert witness only for attorneys or insurers. Our expert witness opinions are not affected by seeking legal work in legal malpractice claims.  Click here for the work we do.

Good attorneys for plaintiffs look hard at a case before agreeing to work on it.

Many people think they have legal malpractice claims against a lawyer, but they have no legal claim that can be made.  Other people have  valid claims but the damages are small, and, because the cost in time and money is large to pursue such a claim, it is not worth while for any lawyer to undertake the case for them.  A few people have a legal claim that is both a valid legal claim and also is a claim worth the time and money to pursue. That is why good attorneys for plaintiffs look very hard at a case before undertaking it.  If the attorney undertakes a legal malpractice case, he/she has a lot of time and money that has to be invested before the case finally is concluded.  Therefore, a good attorney will look critically not only at whether you have a valid claim, but also whether the possible end result will be worth all the time and effort.

Good attorneys for defendants spend a lot of time and effort defending a case.

Likewise, on the defense, clients have to realize that it takes a lot of time and money to defend a legal malpractice case. Insurers recognize this, but attorneys without insurers may not realize the scope of what will become necessary.  Professional malpractice cases always must be strongly defended, because the reputation and future business of the defendant attorney is on the line. Because of the required result needed, it is wise to seek the best defense attorney that can be afforded.

We do not make any recommendation about the following attorneys.  The order reflects only the state and sometimes the date they were entered in this page. They were entered on the list only because they are known to have handled one side or the other in a legal malpractice case.  No preference or recommendation is implied by the order. Occasionally we alphabetize the list, or part of the list, for the sake of order.  We simply tell you that you can contact these attorneys, and they do handle attorney professional malpractice claims, including claims that an attorney was (or was not) negligent.

When we know of a website or email address for the following persons, we give you the link.  Those without links in the following list may have a website, so you may want to search the web for them.  See each state listings at the end of this page for disclaimers attorneys make for some specific states.
